MY BACKGROUND & TRAINING

I have been a licensed massage therapist for over 20 years and a movement instructor for over 12. I attended massage school in Hawaii in 2004 where I was trained in many different modalities of manual therapy, however I have always been fascinated by and drawn to working with fascia. â€‹I attended the Rolf Institute in 2013 to learn how manipulation of the fascia surrounding muscles and bones can address issues of structural alignment and have since discovered that adding the skills to work with fascia of the blood vessels, lymph, organs, bones, nervous system, brain, and even adipose tissue has the capacity to make profound changes throughout the body and mind with a technique known as Fascial Counterstrain.

Through the study and application of Counterstrain beginning in 2022, I have seen the power this work has to go beyond what I ever thought possible with manual

therapy. Through my own experince of Counterstrain as a client, I have developed a deep interest in integrating mental health care, particularly addressing trauma & PTSD, with bodywork. This can be achieved through working directly with the nervous system and brain and addressing trapped inflammation throughout the body.  Learn more about Fascial Counterstrain® here and the incredible effects Counterstrain has had on vets, first responders and others who have experienced trauma here.

I studied acupuncture, 5 element theory, and Traditional Chinese Medicine while living in Australia from 2008-2010. I believe that having a thorough knowledge & understanding of how to work with the organ systems and their corresponding meridians provides a more complete picture of the overall health of my clients.

Finally on a separate, but related note, I taught dance and movement for nearly a decade starting in 2012. I became certified to teach yoga in 2015, taught stand up paddle board yoga from 2015-2017, and I owned my own studio where I taught dance, movement and yoga from 2015-2020. I have a passion for teaching and helping people learn about their bodies and how to move with proper alignment, intention and presence that builds self-awareness and a strong mind-body connection.

MY PHILOSOPHY OF HEALTH & HEALING

“We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” - Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

I believe that our minds, bodies and spirits are inextricably linked, just as we are linked to each other and the cosmos. When working to achieve a state of well-being, awareness and integration of each system must be taken into consideration and addressed to restore harmony & balance. That is where traditional “massage therapy” can, and often does, fall short. We are infinitely more complex than muscles & bones!

I believe transformation and healing is an active process — ultimately no one can heal your body like you can. I view my role in this process as a facilitator, a teacher and a guide. Our bodies contain infinite wisdom and know what is needed to move toward wholeness and healing and away from pain, disease and dysfunction. I am here to listen to what your body is saying, to honor its wisdom and desire for health and vitality and help you learn to do the same through informed and intuitive touch.
